Then we headed to soli and Chris and Cindy even came and again the kids love to color even the adults batman got a lot of love again and after all of this we took our kids to the park and of course we played futbol (soccer) and we actually won I know surprising and over all we had a great day
Christmen – Tuesday update
Hello again, so today the Park team had some more adventures with their sites. Today we shared the story of Joseph and his Brothers, and we even got a visit from Spider-Man. This morning at the home for disabled men, the students handed out stickers, clipped some fingernails and even made yarn shoelaces. Later they spent some time at the build site playing with the neighborhood children and helping build the house. Afterwards they went to the Park Site where they painted popsicle stick crosses and played with hula hoops and bubbles.
A few build site photos
The build team is going strong with the help of many locals. Framing is about done. We are about to start drywalling and waiting for roofing panels to get here to put the roof on this afternoon. The electrical is all wired. Joe and Mackenzie have done a great job getting wires pulled and now are working on getting plugs and fixtures wired up. Les has the plumbing underground done and most of it ran into the house. More photos to come.
Christmen – Monday update
Yesterday our Park Team, including Addie, Stacy, Mady, Kelly, James, Matthew, Harmony, Brandi and Bethany, met two of their interpreters and went to the Park site for the first time. They performed another VBS with a handful of children. They also spent the early afternoon at a church service held by MRAV, which is a church strongly connected to Octane. This morning they returned to the mental health facility for men and strengthened their bonds with the guys by teaching them about Meshach, Shadrach, and Abednego. The park team continues to have a blast every single day and thanks everyone for their prayers and support.
Jesus League – Sunday update
Yesterday Jesus League went to the autism center in the mourning and worked on painting the wall and posts. We got the majority of the wall done, as well as most of the posts, with the help of a few workers from the center, who volunteered to help us.
At our church site in Soli, we started our vbs. It went well. For our bible story, we did a skit on David and Goliath, comparing David to Captain America . To go along with the story we played a skill shot game where they had to throw a yarn ball in to increasingly smaller objects from farther away each time. As for the craft, we made paper plate shields. When playing the game and doing the craft, the adults and children participated. We had a lot of fun playing with the kids and building relationships.
Jesus League – Saturday update
We went to the center for autistic children. We met the director and her son, Ivan and got paint to paint the outside of the building.
Then we went to our second site, a church in Soli, 5 minutes from the build site. We connected with the pastor and brought him to the build site. He said a prayer for us and we stayed to help dig a trench. We went back to camp at 5pm.
Barnabro James!
Each day, camp selects a barnabro and barnababe for something awesome those students did. Monday morning our own James Monson was camp barnabro!!!!
While at Refugio de Amor on Sunday, one of the men had pants 4 sizes too big. James removed his belt and gave it to the man to keep his pants up.
Way to go James!
The official hug from team Barnabas!
