Young adult team update – Wednesday

Young Adult Team
Today was a hot and tiring day for everyone but God allowed us to pull through. We began our morning making a run to Super Cuernavaca to fill up a cooler with ice and drinks for our hard working men at the build team. Afterwards, we met Team Stephen at a park they have been working in. We helped them paint over graffiti on a large wall and a gazebo. It looks so much nicer! After working hard we rewarded ourselves with our last taco stand stop! By this time the day was half over so we dropped by the build site again and refilled their cooler, picked up trash, and nailed in some dry wall. It was a great last day and we get to end it with an awesome candle light worship!

Technical difficulties

Sorry for the delay in some posts!  We were having some technical difficulties but I think they are resolved now.

Thank you for all of the prayers and messages.  The team waits for all of your comments to be read every night after chapel. Thanks for the love!!!

We are all doing ok and have had some amazing ministry experiences this week! None of us can believe we leave tomorrow to begin the journey back to Michigan.

See you soon!

Young adult update – Tuesday

Hello from the young adult team! We had an awesome day today sharing Gods love! This morning we visited an abuse shelter for women and children. Unfortunately the kids had to go to school and the women were also in some classes but we were able to play with some of the babies that didn’t need to go to school. Afterwards we made it to our other site at a Christian rehab center for men and women with addictions. We played musical chairs with the women. They loved it and asked us to come back tomorrow! We are so excited to see what God has in store for us tomorrow.

Amor De Dios – Tuesday

Today did not go exactly as planned. We were brought to believe that we would be helping in the classrooms of a school; teach students about nutrition or hygiene rather than God’s Great Grace due to the restrictions about religion in the schools. Sadly, that plan fell through. When we arrived, the woman in charge had no idea of our plans and called us to clean a littered soccer field without tools of any sort, including gloves. But we were blessed with showers after!!! (Some of our dirt tans wore off:?) As we piled into the car after our showers, the car would not start. Luckily, nothing serious. We made our way down to the park site with MRAV, where we were welcomed by some very tired kids that had just gotten out of class. We also drove MRAV to the build site to look over the process of the house! We didn’t get very far with our VBS because we knew the children were tired, but they did witness Gods love through crafts we did together and sandwiches we made for them.
P.S. Grace is terrified of bananas.

Team H2O update

Team H20 – Ali, Heidi,  Katie, Kailyn, Katherine, Josh Q, Maddy, Laura, Hailey, Adi, and Alex.
Today was a great official start to our VBS. First we went to Refugio. The men colored in the daily bible verse of in their coloring books. We also gave them paper plates that we made into crowns for them to color, which they loved. They also made bracelets with beads and, of course, we played soccer and basketball with them.
Then we went to Una Salida. There we managed to teach them how to play the game “Chicken, Cowboy, Conquerer” without our translator. Then we had them read the daily bible verse in English while we attempted in Spanish. We did beads and coffee filter flowers with them as well.
We went to the build site for a little bit and some of us helped while the rest played with the kids.
The weather was in the high 90’s today, so we tried to stay inside as much as possible. We drank lots of water and put lots of sunscreen on! Everyone is having a blast here and we miss you all.

Amor De Dios update – Monday

This day started off at a good time, even though we got there early. MRAV (the church we work with) showed up around 12:00. But before that we handed out wristbands and slip the kids into two different groups, ones group for the bible story of the day and one group for beads. Once MRAV showed up they helped us organize a fútbol game, which was the Americans versus the Mexicans, sadly the Americans lost 3-0, all around it was a great time and a great first day for VBS for us. Also we found a kitten and one of the children decided to adopt it. The cats name is Cacahuate which means Peanut. We founds the kitten making noise in the park so we picked it up, gave it some water, and played with it. Stayed tuned for more from Amor De Dios.

Young Adult Team update

The Young Adult team is Mackenzie, Joe, Taylor, Haunani, Tabitha, Jen, Jenesa, and sometimes Emili.

So far we have had a great week growing as a team. We have been working along side the build team in building the new home. Yesterday we partnered with the women’s ministry and prepared a huge meal for the community we are building in. All of octane, the orphanage, and even some camp staff joined us! It was great to build relationships and see everyone together. Today we will be visiting a women’s prison and playing volleyball… So many new experiences, we can’t wait to see what the rest of the week brings!
