Refugio was really fun. Some of us played soccer and basketball, and I colored with the men. I colored a few coloring sheets and gave them to a man named Emilio. All the men got to shower and put on new clothes and they were all excited about that. While we were coloring we sang some songs with the men. It was really fun, and all the men had a good time. It was really hard to leave though. Anna almost cried . They were all super grateful that we came.

What a morning!
This morning Team Barnabas had two challenges – and Octane won both of them! First, Josh was the first to run to the Barnabas tent with a pair of underwear on his head, hurdling things along the way! Second, Matt and Jacob won the race to the Barnabas tent to brush a friend’s teeth. It was quite a site!
During morning chapel, the Barnabas awards also went to two of our students – Addy and Jacob!!! Barnabas awards are given for showing an amazing commitment of service to others. Great job everyone!!!
Making a difference…
You never know what your service can really mean when you are in the midst of it. Yesterday, when the Flock painted the house, it was not just about the assistance to the build team, but actually was incredibly significant to the homeowner.
The power and water had been terminated due to the condition of the home – burned, vandalized, burglarized. The companies were refusing to reconnect the services until the home was habitable once again.
The first step to this was the fencing and gate installed on Saturday by the build team, but the final step to get everything reconnected was the painting of the exterior of the house.
As of today, the power and water company have both been out to reconnect the services! God is amazing!!!
Team Esperanza – Tuesday
Today team Esperanza left early this morning to join in at the autism center. We made bracelets, colored, blew bubbles and got to know a little about both the kids there and the people that worked there along side the kids. The kids ages ranged from 6-28.
Next we headed out to the park site. We ate lunch in the van and made our way to the site. When we got there we brought out water for the children and started right on in with bracelets, bubbles and soccer while Kelli, Brandi and Harmony gathered the few remaining kids at their homes.
Today we did the story of creation skit while the children enjoyed peanut butter and jelly sandwiches we made them. We then did our craft which was feather masks and continued to play soccer, bracelets, give papuchis (piggy back rides) and have another day of fun with the kids at the park site. After we made our way to Walmart and collected the things we will need for our day tomorrow and headed back to camp.

The Flock – Tuesday
After our showers, which were great, we headed to our church site in Soli. Our VBS for the day was God makes us unique and we used peacocks to convey the message. Our skit was written by Anna and talked about the special talents of four team members and four birds. After our skit we did a peacock coloring page with our Bible verse of the day and made beaded bracelets. Amy, Julie and the kids stopped by to check in and, as we were leaving, team Barnabas showed up so we took them to the build site. When we got there we jumped right in and started painting! Anna and big Josh got in paint fight and she got paint in her mouth.(thanks josh) After that we stumbled through our taco orders because our translator Yadira went home to grab a shower. Then we headed back to camp.
Some of us finally showered today!
